At sixty-three, Anne Hough stepped aboard a Clipper Race yacht and into the unknown. Over 40,000 nautical miles, she and her crew faced towering seas, howling gales and moments of doubt—discovering along the way the strength of teamwork, the power of resilience and the breathtaking beauty of our planet's oceans.

Anne was born in 1956 to two doctors, an English father and an Irish mother. Her upbringing was in Epping in Essex where she and her sisters lived for their horses. After a degree in law, she qualified as a lawyer in the UK before moving to Australia with her husband Gerald, where they lived for four years and had two children.
They now have four children, two of whom live in Australia. They eventually settled in Guernsey where they have lived for the last 18 years. It was here that Anne took up sailing and first heard about the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race. She crewed in races in Guernsey and qualified as a Yacht Master.

About the Author
Gerald Hough
Gerald Hough qualified as an accountant and worked in London, Paris and Sydney before moving into the City of London. He later set up his own web-based business and, in 2008, moved to Guernsey with his wife, Anne.
He is the author of Desert Raids with the SAS, published by Pen & Sword in 2021. Around the World at Sixty-Three tells the remarkable story of Anne Hough’s Clipper Round the World Yacht Race experience, capturing the endurance, teamwork and adventure of ocean racing.
